What we treat
Shoulder pain
Shoulders are slow. The right plan early is what stops that becoming months.
What it usually is
Rotator cuff pain
Painful to lift the arm out to the side, painful to lie on at night. Tendons respond well to graded loading — but the load has to be right, and that is the part worth getting help with.
Impingement and pinching
A catch through a specific part of the range. Usually about how the shoulder blade and cuff are working together, not about the joint being worn out.
Frozen shoulder
Stiff in every direction, including when someone else moves it. It has distinct stages, and treatment that helps in one stage can aggravate another.
After a fall or a dislocation
Needs assessment for what was injured before loading it. We work to your surgeon or GP protocol where there is one.
How we treat it
The shoulder has more ways to go wrong than any other joint, so the assessment matters more here than almost anywhere. We test the cuff, the joint and the shoulder blade separately, then treat what the testing points at rather than treating "shoulder pain" generically.
Your first appointment
Wear something sleeveless or easy to move in. Expect range-of-motion testing, strength testing through several positions, and hands-on treatment on the day. We will be honest about the likely timeline — shoulders are usually measured in months, not weeks.
Questions about this
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in Australia. You only need a referral if you are claiming through Medicare, DVA or WorkCover.
How much does the first appointment cost?
$110 for 45 minutes. If you have private health cover we claim the rebate on the spot, so you pay only the gap. There are no booking or admin fees.
Will it hurt?
Assessment can be uncomfortable in the area that is already sore, but nothing happens without telling you first. If something is too much, say so and we adjust.
How many appointments will I need?
It depends on the problem, and we will give you an honest estimate at the end of the first visit. Most straightforward problems settle in three to six sessions.
Other problems we treat

Back and neck pain
Discs, joints, nerve pain and the stiffness that comes from sitting all day. Assessment first, then hands-on treatment and a plan.

Knee pain
Runner’s knee, ligament and meniscus problems, arthritis and the knees that ache going down stairs.

Hip and groin pain
Hip impingement, glute and tendon pain, and the deep ache that will not settle with rest alone.

Sports injuries
Ankles, hamstrings, calves and shoulders — for weekend sport as much as for competition. Graded return, not guesswork.

Post-operative rehab
Knee and hip replacements, shoulder and ACL reconstructions. We work to your surgeon’s protocol.
