What we treat
Knee pain
Knees rarely hurt where the problem is. That is why we assess the hip and ankle too.
What it usually is
Pain at the front of the knee
Worse on stairs, hills and after sitting. Often about how load is shared between the hip, knee and ankle rather than about the kneecap itself.
Meniscus and cartilage problems
Catching, locking or a sharp twinge on twisting. Many settle well without surgery, and the assessment is what tells you which group you are in.
Ligament injuries
ACL, MCL and the ones that happen in a moment. Graded return to loading, and we work to your surgeon’s protocol where there has been an operation.
Knee osteoarthritis
Stiff in the morning, achy after activity. Strength work is the treatment with the best evidence behind it, and it works at any age.
How we treat it
We test the knee, then we test the hip and ankle, because the knee sits between them and takes the load they do not. Treatment is hands-on for symptoms plus a strength plan for the cause, and we will give you a realistic timeline at the first visit.
Your first appointment
Bring shorts. We will watch you walk, squat and step down, test the ligaments and the meniscus, and check hip and calf strength. You will leave with treatment done and two or three specific exercises.
Questions about this
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in Australia. You only need a referral if you are claiming through Medicare, DVA or WorkCover.
How much does the first appointment cost?
$110 for 45 minutes. If you have private health cover we claim the rebate on the spot, so you pay only the gap. There are no booking or admin fees.
What should I bring?
Your private health card if you have one, any scans or reports, and clothing you can move in. For a knee or hip, shorts are ideal.
How many appointments will I need?
It depends on the problem, and we will give you an honest estimate at the end of the first visit. Most straightforward problems settle in three to six sessions.
Other problems we treat

Back and neck pain
Discs, joints, nerve pain and the stiffness that comes from sitting all day. Assessment first, then hands-on treatment and a plan.

Shoulder pain
Rotator cuff, impingement, frozen shoulder and the ones that hurt most at night. We find what is actually causing it.

Hip and groin pain
Hip impingement, glute and tendon pain, and the deep ache that will not settle with rest alone.

Sports injuries
Ankles, hamstrings, calves and shoulders — for weekend sport as much as for competition. Graded return, not guesswork.

Post-operative rehab
Knee and hip replacements, shoulder and ACL reconstructions. We work to your surgeon’s protocol.
