What we treat
Back and neck pain
Most back and neck pain settles. Knowing which kind you have is what changes how fast.
What it usually is
Low back pain that came on suddenly
You bent, lifted or twisted and something caught. It is usually a joint or muscular strain rather than damage, and it usually settles faster with movement than with rest.
Neck and shoulder stiffness from desk work
Aches late in the day, worse by Friday, better on holiday. The problem is rarely posture alone — it is how long you hold one position without changing it.
Pain that travels down a leg or arm
Sciatica, or a nerve irritated where it exits the spine. It needs a proper assessment to work out whether it is nerve, joint or referred pain, because the three are treated differently.
Recurring back pain that keeps coming back
It settles, then returns every few months. That pattern usually points at load and capacity rather than at the original injury.
How we treat it
We start by working out what structure is actually producing the pain, and just as importantly what is not. Then hands-on treatment to get you moving with less pain, and a small number of specific exercises to keep the improvement. We will tell you honestly if we think you need a scan or a GP referral — most people do not.
Your first appointment
Bring clothing you can move in. We will look at how your spine moves, test the nerves if your pain travels, and check the hips and shoulders, because they change how the spine loads. You will get hands-on treatment on the day.
Questions about this
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with a physiotherapist in Australia. You only need a referral if you are claiming through Medicare, DVA or WorkCover.
How much does the first appointment cost?
$110 for 45 minutes. If you have private health cover we claim the rebate on the spot, so you pay only the gap. There are no booking or admin fees.
How soon can I be seen?
We hold same-day slots for acute problems. If you book outside opening hours we will confirm your time by phone the next morning.
Will it hurt?
Assessment can be uncomfortable in the area that is already sore, but nothing happens without telling you first. If something is too much, say so and we adjust.
Other problems we treat

Shoulder pain
Rotator cuff, impingement, frozen shoulder and the ones that hurt most at night. We find what is actually causing it.

Knee pain
Runner’s knee, ligament and meniscus problems, arthritis and the knees that ache going down stairs.

Hip and groin pain
Hip impingement, glute and tendon pain, and the deep ache that will not settle with rest alone.

Sports injuries
Ankles, hamstrings, calves and shoulders — for weekend sport as much as for competition. Graded return, not guesswork.

Post-operative rehab
Knee and hip replacements, shoulder and ACL reconstructions. We work to your surgeon’s protocol.
